Kawandi Magazine seeks to publish Black writing and visual art, especially from emerging voices. Since creators of these identities have historically been shut out from large publications and underpaid for their work, it is important to Kawandi that we fairly compensate our contributors for their work.

We also plan to engage Black communities in year-round online and in-person literacy and art events.

Donations will go towards compensation for our contributors, producing and distributing digital and physical copies of our issues, and hosting events in support of literacy and art appreciation.
