FAQ
What kind of work do you publish?
We seek writing and art that elucidate Black imaginaries in line with the Black literary radical tradition of our predecessors. That is to say we seek Black storytelling that imagines Black futures, rejects dominant narratives, evokes with ancestral cosmologies, highlights pathways towards Black liberation, and with respect to our current issue theme, explores concepts of space and time.
We also have a soft spot for any experimental work that challenges the rigid borders of genre. Have fun with your submissions!
Who will be reading my work?
Our founder and editor-in-chief Mia Monet (along with a small team of volunteers) will be reviewing and collaboratively editing your work alongside you if accepted.
Do you accept simultaneous submissions?
Yes, however we ask that you swiftly inform us if your work is accepted elsewhere so we can withdraw it from our submission pool.
Do you accept previously published work?
No, please submit original work only.
Do you accept work created with the help of AI?
No. Any submitted work that was created with the help of AI will result in an immediate rejection and permanent ban from submitting to Kawandi Magazine in the future. We will also share the information with our network of fellow literary magazines.
